ViewPort — Real-Time Debugging, Visualisation & Data Inspection for Parallax Propeller Systems

ViewPort

ViewPort is an advanced development and visualisation environment created by Hanno Sander for the Parallax Propeller microcontroller. Featured by Ignite Automation, it enables real-time variable monitoring, logic analysis, and code debugging in one powerful interface.

Overview

ViewPort integrates with the Propeller Tool and Spin source files, allowing developers to view live variable values, visualise waveforms, and interact with running programs without halting execution. This makes it ideal for developing control loops, signal processing, and embedded diagnostics.

Key Features

  • Real-time monitoring of variables and sensor inputs.
  • Integrated oscilloscope and logic analyser display.
  • Support for multiple cogs (threads) within the Propeller chip.
  • Graphical visualisation widgets — dials, bars, and charts.
  • Debug and tune firmware without recompiling.

Installation

ViewPort runs on Windows and connects via the standard Propeller USB interface. The package includes example projects and configuration files for a variety of hardware setups.
